County Kerry

Rossmore Island is perfectly positioned right on the Ring of Kerry and the Wild Atlantic Way, and has many places of interest nearby you may wish to explore. The island is only 5 miles from Sneem and 11 miles from Kenmare. Close by are the McGillycuddy Reeks and beyond them lie the famous lakes and town of Killarney - a one hour's drive away. Within a 90 minute drive there are the world class golf courses of Tralee, Ballybunion, Dooks, Waterville and the Ring of Kerry (only 10 minutes away).

The Ring of Kerry is one of the most scenic drives in the country with spectacular views of ocean and mountains. Also, across the bay, a tour not to be missed is the Ring of Beara taking in the dramatic Tim Healey Pass and an unforgettable visit to the famous McCarthy's bar in Castletownbere.

Sneem and Kenmare are both close to Rossmore Island, as is the luxury Parknasilla Resort Hotel, which is just three miles away. This is the most impressive section of the "Ring of Kerry", and Seal Rock cottage is perfectly placed for exploring the area. Kenmare, renowned for its fine dining, traditional Irish pubs and live music is only 20 minutes away.

Sneem is one of the most charming villages in Ireland with rainbow coloured shops, good amenities for provisions, Quills Irish linen and plenty of pubs serving fine food for guests who choose not to cook.

"We stayed two months and it could not have been more perfect. The cottage, property and location were everything we expected and much more. Excellent as a base for daily excursions if that is your interest, but don't miss the beauty and peace of just spending quiet time at the cottage itself. This is a very special place you don't want to miss. And I highly recommend booking in the off season: we enjoyed so much more without crowds and buses and in many cases nearly had it to ourselves. This micro climate gives you all kinds of weather in one week, even one day and that in itself is sensational and typically Irish, so don't bother trying to time it just right, just book it and enjoy it. Superb hosts who have earned their reputation."

"Seal Rock is even more lovely in real life than the photos. The cottage is luxuriously furnished and infused with light even on an overcast Irish day. The panoramic views of Kenmare Bay never become passé and the absolute quiet is the antidote for whatever may be ailing you."

"Our stay at Seal Rock Cottage was (too) short, but perfect. We loved the cottage and the serene location. The views leading to the cottage - and at the cottage - were incredible. The owners were very responsive to our inquiries prior to our arrival, and check-in was seamless. The information manual for guests was especially helpful and complete - with both useful household information, as well as suggestions for activities, eateries, and lovely drives along the Ring of Kerry. We highly recommend Seal Rock Cottage!"

"A Beautiful home in a beautiful location. It is remote and not the easiest location to find but the owners directions were very helpful and this is my second visit to this home so I would obviously come back again. If you want to be in a city center this is not the place for you but if you don't mind a short drive you will be in Kenmare in 20 minutes where there are some really wonderful restaurants for foodies and the people are lovely! The Bay views from this home are nothing short of amazing and a brisk walk up the lane to the main road provides your morning exercise and even more stunning views. The home is absolutely beautiful and the beds are luxurious!"

"If you are thinking of self-catering around the Ring of Kerry, this is definitely the cottage to stay in. Hidden well away from the main tourist traffic, it is still within easy distance of some of the main attractions. The photos are an entirely fair reflection of this lovely property - the garden is to die for and we even had a visit from the seal! If the weather is good, views from the property are spectacular, and if not, it is an extremely comfortable place to be holed up for the duration."

"The unique location of the charming cottage is excellent and offers panoramic views of the water and mountains. It is a short drive to local towns with lots to see and do within a few minutes, and even more around Kerry and the Wild Atlantic Way. The log fire and interiors made for an ideal winter getaway. The kitchen was well equipped and the bedrooms were quiet and very comfortable. A stunning location and excellent property. Would definitely recommend to others and we'll definitely return to see a summer vista!"
